Background¶
Influenced by the REACH Interoperability lab at the Medinfo2010 in Cape Town last year, the UP Manila National Telehealth Center proposed a Connectathon to provide a quick assessment of the current capacities of the Philippine Health Information System. Secretary Dr Enrique Ona released a memorandum calling on the major stakeholders to work together and demonstrate existing solutions already available from the Department of Health, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the University of the Philippines.
Purpose¶
There are two objectives for this event (an event within an event):
1. a demonstration of existing ICT solutions that are ready to connect to each other using current local standards (Connectathon on April 12 afternoon)
2. an inter-operability capability building program (IOCBP) on international standards (eg, SDMX-HD) facilitated by WHO (April 11-13)
The Connectathon (1) aims to showcase the currently available local solutions that are able to interoperate between each other. The IOCBP aims to fast track the understanding and adoption of international standards amongst local developers._
